CICS

CICS, which stands for Customer Information Control System, is a On-Line Transaction Processing (OLTP) System. It has introduced in 1968 by IBM. And it is used as front end application in online processing system.

   The CICS is interface between Operating System (MVS) and Application Programes(COBOL,PL1,Assembler)

CICS Components

1.   Data-Communication Functions
   This is used for to communicate between CICS and terminals or other systems for sending request and getting the response for request. And it is device independence and format independence

2.   Data Handling Functions
   This component is used as interface between the CICS and Data accessed method (VTAM, BTAM, TTAM) for transfer the data to and from a terminal to CICS and interface with database access methods (DB2)

3. Application Programming Services
   This component is used as a interface between CICS and Application Programs

4. System Services
    This is act as interface between CICS and Operating System for operating system operations like allocating the memory, task scheduling and job processing like that
5. Monitoring Functions
